Description:

An explosion followed by a fire completely destroyed a dwelling at N4571 River Road in Menominee Township Tuesday morning. The building was owned by Dmitry Sokolsky of Vernon Hills, IL Responding to the scene were units from Mellen and Menominee-Ingallston townships' volunteer fire departments along with Mid-County Rescue Squad. The explosion scattered debris in a 200-foot area around the dwelling. In another incident, firemen from Nadeau, Faithorn and Daggett departments were called out to a structure fire on Co. Rd. 577 south of G-18. Mellen and Menominee-Ingallston firemen were later called to a fire in a garage owned by Loren Anderson on No. 14 Road. At the same time, Stephenson firemen were called to a report of heavy smoke on Wangerin Road just south of town. It was determined that the smoke was from the Wallace fire and Stephenson furnished mutual aid at the fire on No. 14 Road.
