Description:
The largest crowd ever attended the Stephenson FFA Alumni Auction April 29. The beautiful weather likely contributed to the large turn out for the auction, which has been held for 14 years. Organizers say that more people consigned items and more than 90 percent of the 350 items consigned sold. Yoap and Yoap have conducted the auction since its beginning. Leonard Yoap, left, was the auctioneer at this year's event, following in the footsteps of his father, Everett, who helped work last year's auction and passed away shortly after the event. The money raised through the auction consignment fees is used to fund travel to state competitions and the State and National Conventions. The funds also provide a $500 scholarship to a graduating FFA member interested in pursuing a career in agriculture and other student activities. The Stephenson FFA Chapter is the only existing U.P. Chapter.
