Description:
A highlight of Memorial Day services in the Powers-Spalding area was the dedication of the veterans' memorial at Veterans' Memorial Park. The memorial includes a marker, statue of a saluting serviceman, and a new flag pole. The flag pole was an Eagle Scout project of Jacob Burk, far right in photo below. The son of Betty and Charles Burk of Spalding said he wanted to do something for the community that would be a lasting memorial. He expressed thanks to his parents, brother and members of the community who helped with the project.
