Graduate students from Mississippi State Univer-sity and the Michigan DNR are working together to determine what predators are killing Whitetail deer fawns. Predators included in the study are bobcats, wolves, coyotes and bear. A student, above, displays a cub that was handled near the den site east of Talbot. The team also places radio transmitters in pregnant does that indicate when their fawns are born. The fawns are then located and also collared and followed to determine mortality rates and what predator was involved.
