Judy M. Burns, 63, Marinette, died unexpectedly at home, March 15, 2011.

She was born Oct. 1, 1947, to the late Warren and Betty (Nystrom) Goodlet in Menominee. She graduated from Marinette High School in 1965. On July 30, 1966, she married Francis (Buster) Burns in Marinette. He preceded her in death Aug. 17, 2010. She had worked as an advocate for the Apostolate. She also worked at the Marinette Community Credit Union for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish and the National Rifle Association. She enjoyed camping at the Marinette Moose Lodge with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter, Sheila Ann (Scott) Brezsko, Marinette, a granddaughter; a brother, David (Gwyned) Goodlet, AZ; and a sister, Jane Casperson, Menominee. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Brett; and son-in-law, Trev D. Brezsko.

Friends called at Thielen Funeral Home where funeral services were held March 19 with Deacon Bruce Corey officiating.

Mary Jane M. Buzzo, 75, Gladstone, died March 18, 2011, at her home. She was born Dec. 14, 1935, in Mattoon, WI, the only daughter of the late George and Margaret (Kupper) Baures. She married Albert Bernan Leiskau Sept. 27, 1952, in Antigo, WI. She later married Burton Buzzo July 21, 1973. Mary Jane earned a LPN li cense in 1973 from Bay de Noc College and joined the staff at OSF St. Francis Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, going to church and collecting bird houses.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Kangas, Tucson, AZ, Dawn Bowden, Waco, TX, and Michelle Wendrick, Daggett; sons, Chris Leiskau, Vail, AZ, Albert Leiskau, Wells, James Leiskau, Owatonna, MN, Donald Leiskau, Wilmington, MA, and Edward Leiskau, Crandon, WI, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; and four brothers, Theodore, William, Donald and Terry Baures.

Friends called at Memorial United Methodist Church, Gladstone. A funeral service was held there March 23 with her son, Rev. Ed Leiskau officiating and Rev. Scott Harmon concelebrating. Burial will take place in the Rapid River Cemetery in the spring. The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes assisted the family with arrangements.

Robert John Carlson, 60, 4203 K Road, Bark River, died unexpectedly March 12, 2011, at his home.

He was born May 16, 1950, in Escanaba, son of Kenneth and Merril (Roman) Carlson. Robert graduated form Escanaba High School in 1970. Robert served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He was employed with Harnischfeger until 1980 and NewPage Paper Company until his retirement in 2005. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, four-wheeling, cooking and being with his friends and animals.

He is survived by his son, Chris Carlson, Manheim, Germany; one granddaughter, brother, Gary (Donna) Carlson, Escanaba; two sisters, Cheryl (Ken) Kamin, Escanaba, and Barb (Bernie (Duck)) Gagne, Powers, nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral were held March 19, at the Crawford Funeral Home, Escanaba. Pastor Steve Patrick of Grace Baptist Church, Gladstone, officiated.

Barbara Ann Lenca, 80, Wilson, died March 12, 2011, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers.

She was born Aug. 29, 1930, in Bark River, the daughter of the late Henry and Emma (Lavigne) LaBelle. Barbara married Edward Lenca July 5, 1952, in Bark River, and the couple made their home in Wilson. Barbara was a member of St. John Neumann Church. She had a passion for baking and cooking for her family and found solace in her faith, she valued family time and found special joy in her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, Edward Jr., Lakewood, CO, Stephen (Elizabeth), Wells, and Michael, Glenn Heights, TX; and one daughter, Carol (Thomas) Witt, Plover, WI, and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends called at Allo Coolman Funeral Home, Spalding. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated March 22 at St. John Neumann Church, Spalding with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Gerald (Jerry) W. Nerat, 68, Peshtigo, died March 20, 2011, at Bay Area Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 6, 1943, to the late Floyd and Irene (Lynch) Nerat in Menominee. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1961. On May 16, 1964, he married Patricia Smith at St. William's Church, Menominee. He had worked his entire life in the propane business and eventually owned and operated Peshtigo Propane Gas for many years. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish, and in his younger years the Golden Gloves Boxing Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time by the pond, Lake Irene, on his land.

He is survived by his wife; a son, James (Bonnie) Nerat, Peshtigo; a daughter, Christine (Frank) Alloy, Marinette; two brothers, Bob (Linda) Nerat and Bill (Patty) Nerat, both of Menominee; a sister, Kathy Long, Baltimore, MD; a sister-in-law, Candy (Ron) Carriveau, IN; and three grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Terry (Buddy) and John; and a brother-in-law, Harry.

Friends may call at Thielen Funeral Home, March 24 from 3 p.m. until time of service. Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. with Sister Helen Plum officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Peshtigo.

Lois Ann Poisson, 71, Hermansville, died March 12, 2011, at Dickinson County Hospital, Iron Mountain.

She was born April 8, 1939, in Wyandotte, MI, the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Cvajka) Mexico. On June 9, 1973, she married Gordon Poisson.

She is survived by five children, Dawn (Philip) Labre, Susan (Tom) Kirschner, Joseph Brufach, Christopher (Cathy) Brufach and Amery (Dave) Saylor; one brother, Bob Mexico, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; one son, Gordon Poisson; and two brothers, Patrick and Chester Mexico.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. (CDT) March 26, at Allo Coolman Funeral Home, Spalding. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. (CDT) at the funeral home with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. Visit website www.allofh.com to send on-line condolences to the family.

Charles A. Renner, Sr., 81, Marinette, died March 16, 2011, at home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Milwaukee, to Adelbert and Myra (Reutsch) Renner. At an early age, he moved with his family to the Greenwoods area of Menominee County. He was a graduate of Stephenson High School, Class of 1947. On Oct. 21, 1950, he married Audrey Ann LeBouton. Early in their marriage, they farmed in the McAllister area. He was later employed by Northern Propane and for many years, by Wisconsin Public Service Corp. He enjoyed spending time going camping, fishing and gardening at home. He was a member of the M&M Antique Auto Club and Community Lutheran Church of McAllister.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Charles A. Renner, Jr. (fiancé, Theresa Remington), James J. (Barbara) Renner, Steven J. (Zaida) Renner, all of Marinette; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Renner, five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James; and a sister, Jane.

A private family funeral service was held March 21, at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home, Marinette. The Rev. Paul Hueter officiated. Burial was in Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Town of Peshtigo.

Bernice L. Sharkey, 84, Escanaba, died March 18, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital, Escanaba.

She was born March 1, 1927, in Escanaba, the daughter of Clyde and Elizabeth (Pilon) Viau. She was raised in Northland and later in Schaffer where she attended Schaffer School System. On Jan. 31, 1948, Bernice married Walter J. Sharkey in Munising. They made their home and began their family in the Wilson area, where they spent most of their lives together. She was employed as a welder for the Harnischfeger Corporation for a number of years. Walter preceded Bernice in death Nov. 30, 1993. Bernice enjoyed volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul, Escanaba, at the Bishop Noa Home and for the R.S.V.P. program. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.

She is survived by sons, Ronald (Mary) Sharkey, Sun Lakes, AZ, James (Lisa) Sharkey, Wrightstown, WI; daughter, Mary (George) Ives, Wilson, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, and her husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Louis, Raymond, Phillip, Edward, Richard and Joseph Viau.

The family received friends March 21 at the Skradski-Boyce Funeral Home, Escanaba. Mass of Christian Burial was held March 22, at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Fr. Virgina Evelyn Toupalik, 81, formerly of Wallace, died March 15, 2011, at Heartland Manor in Menominee.

She was born May 14, 1929, in Vesper, WI, to the late Edwin and Catherine (Ruesch) Marx. Virgina married William Toupalik Nov. 4, 1950. He preceded her in death Feb. 13, 1979. Virgina also lost her special friend of many years and fiancee Richard Grabowski. Virgina was a registered nurse at BAMC in Marinette, for over 11 years, retiring in May of 1991. She was an outdoors person who loved hunting and fishing and bird watching. She also enjoyed dancing and music, playing the accordion, the organ and she liked yodeling.

Virginia is survived by one son, Douglas (Sandra) Toupalik, Wallace; her granddaughter and grandson; two sisters, Geraldine Ferk, Vesper and Norma Trantow, Wisconsin Rapids; one brother Hilary (Edith) Marx and her sister-in-law, Audrey Marx both of Wisconsin Rapids. Along with her parents, her husband William and her fiancee Richard, Virgina was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Heller and Irene Steward and a brother Bernard Marx.

Funeral services for Virgina were held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home March 18. The Rev. Craig Weber officiated. Services were also held at the funeral home in Marshfield, WI March 19. The Rev. Fr. Charles Stoetzel officiated. Burial was in the Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield, WI.
