Vera (Peg) May Baker, 87, died March 30, 2010, at Menominee Care Center in Menominee.
She was born March 24, 1923 in Oxford, England, to the late Albert and Bessie (Carpenter) Clifford.
Vera was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She worked many years at St. Joseph Lloyd Hospital as a nurse's aid and pharmacy technician. She also worked at the Downtown Sandwich & Ice Cream Shoppe until her retirement.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynn (Bruce) Clark, Ft. Meyers, FL; two sons, John (Connie) Baker and Mike (Jodi) Baker, both of Menominee, three grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grand children, three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Dooley, Oxford, England, Mary (Richard) Hendrickson, Long Island, N.Y. and Jane (Don) Mackennon, New Market, N.H. and two brothers, William (Pam) Clifford, Lings, England and David Clifford, N. Yorkshire, England.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two twin sisters, one at birth and Dorothy; and two brothers, Allen and Ron.
A memorial Mass of Christian Burial was offered April 8, at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church. The Rev. Fr. Ron Scufka officiated.
The Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home assisted the family.
Lorraine J. Baribeau, 88, a resident of Menominee, died April 8, 2010, at the Waukesha Springs Nursing Home, Waukesha.
Lorraine Barrett was born Jan. 21, 1922, in Menominee to the late Emil and Laura (Motto) Barrett.
She graduated from Menominee High School. She married Fred Baribeau on Feb. 27, 1943, in Menominee. Lorraine was a member of Resurrection Parish. Her most cherished times and precious moments were spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; one daughter, Cheryl Scheuerman, Waukesha; four grandchil dren; one sister, Doris Hanley, Lena and a daughter-in-law, Linda Baribeau, Thiensville, WI. Along with her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by a son, Michael and a brother, Marshall Barrett.
Funeral Services were at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home April 10. Deacon Vincent Beckley officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.
Mae Chamberland, 91, Menominee, died April 5, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.
Mae was born July 21, 1918 on the family farm in Sagola, MI, to the late Charles and Anna (Gustafson) Peterson.
She graduated from Channing High School Class of 1936. She married Francis Chamberland Sept. 7, 1946. He preceded her in death. Together they owned and operated Lithocrafters print shop in Marinette. She was a member and volunteer of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Menominee for many years. She liked softball, dancing, acrobats, bowling and cards. Her greatest love was her family. She cherished the times spent playing games and reading to her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Shannon Boucher) Hermansen, Menominee and her two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held at the Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home April 9. Rev. Richard DeBenedetto officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery , Menominee.
A memorial fund has been established in Mae's name.
Mary Elizabeth (Vargo) Sanders, 66, Midlothian, IL, died April 11, 2010, at St. Margarets Hospital IN.
She was born May 3, 1943, in Stephenson, to the late John and Joyce Vargo.
She graduated from Stephenson High School in 1961. She married Edwin Sanders Oct. 14, 1961.
Mary worked for Bremen High School in the cafeteria for 21 years. For most of her adult life she dedicated her self to making a home for her family whom she loved and was so proud of. She es pecially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband, Edwin; two daughters, Cami (Dennis) Stoll and Tammy Kazmierski, seven grandchildren; three sisters, Donna Thoune, Stephenson, Linda (Robert) Nerat, and Chris Corey (Tony Raygo), Menominee; one brother, Jack (Sandy) Vargo, FL; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Werner, Birch Creek; mother-in-law, Evelyn (Sanders) Liddle, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bobbie Jean (Joe) Nerat, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Michael (Cheryl); father-in-law, Corney Sanders; nephew, Johnny the third; special uncle, Donald Rabbie.
Memorial service will be held April 19 at Stephenson United Methodist Church at 11 a.m., visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Jim Mathews will officiate.
Patricia A. Schober, 66, 4209 8th Street, Menominee, died April 3, 2010, at her home.
She was born May 20, 1943, in Menominee, to the late Joseph and Evelyn (Reineck) Schober. She was a graduate of Menominee High School. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting. For many years she made lap robes and slippers, donating them to veterans and hospice patients.
She is survived by three first cousins, Susan Reineck, Germantown, WI, Mary Holmes, Glendale, WI, and Dr. Michael (Catherine) Reineck, West Bend, WI, other cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services were held April 12 at the Anderson Kell Funeral Home chapel, Menominee. The Rev. Herb Kolenda officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.
Thelma E. (Betty) Spiller, 87, Nadeau, died April 10, 2010, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility, Powers.
She was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Nadeau, to the late Syrel and Octavia (Charles) Laurin. She married Antone Spiller May 30, 1941, in Nadeau. He preceded her in death Dec. 6, 1975. Betty loved the great outdoors and sitting on her porch enjoying the birds.
She is survived by her sisters, Helen Laurin, Stephenson, Ethel Eichhorn, Powers, Marie Wendricks, Gary, IN, Shirley Adams, Neenah; brother, James (Doris) Laurin, Milwaukee, nieces, nephews, great-niece and caregiver, Ann (Paul) Gurgall, Faithorn.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Earl and Kenneth; sisters, Stella Piche, Mabel Fronsee, Mildred Piche and Verna DeTemple.
Funeral services were held April 13 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson. Deacon Tom Rivard officiated.
Burial was in Nadeau Township Cemetery.
Roy E. Swanson, 83, Menominee, died April 7, 2010, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.
Roy was born on April 17, 1926, in Peshtigo to the late Charles and Bertha (Karlson) Swanson.
Roy graduated from Peshtigo High School Class of 1944. He served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He married Beverly Bonn June 5, 1954.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Menominee. He liked foot ball and baseball and played into the 1950's. Roy and his father-in-law Arvid Bonn, built the family home in 1956. He liked spending time at the cottage and especially liked the time he spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, James (Denise) Swanson, Menominee and Lonnie Swanson, Oconto; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Limberg, Peshtigo and one niece and two nephews. Along with his parents, Roy was preceded in death by two sisters; Joan Swanson and Shirley Beyer; two brothers, Otto and Bill Swanson and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Katherine and Arvid Bonn.
Funeral Services were held at Cadieu-Thielen Funeral Home April 10. Rev. Phil Tousley officiated.
Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee. A memorial fund has been established in Roy's name.
