Otto J. Ruttner, Jr. PDF Print E-mail

Otto J. (Butch) Ruttner, Jr., 67, Stephenson, died Oct. 8, 2009, at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee.

He was born Dec. 22, 1941, in Daggett, to the late Otto, Sr. and Eva (Kalishek) Ruttner. On Aug. 15, 1961, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in Fairbanks, AK, with the ski patrol until being honorably discharged.

On Dec. 24, 1966, he married Sue Mikolas in Menominee. He owned and operated Butch and Sue's Restaurant along side his wife for almost 30 years. He loved hunting, fishing, working in the woods, riding his tractor and Harley Davidson, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed spending his winters in Florida.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Mary (Rich) Severinsen, Germantown, WI, a grandson; two sisters, Theresa (Philip) Kosewski, Stephenson, and Elizabeth (Patrick) Kass, Menominee; brother-in-law, James Buck, Carney, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Eileen Buck.

Family and friends called Oct. 12 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, where funeral services were held. The Rev. Jim Mathews officiated.

Burial was in Nadeau Township Cemetery.

 
Ruth A. Pearson PDF Print E-mail

Ruth A. Pearson, 85, Wallace, died Oct. 8, 2009, at home.

Ruth Hanson was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Laney, WI, to the late Elmer and Cecelia (Melchoir) Hanson.

On Feb. 2, 1946, she married Alvin Pearson at Bethel Mission Covenant Church in Wallace.

She worked for Signal Electric during WWII and also did the books for Hanson's Standard Station in Wallace. Her greatest joy was spending time with family and being a homemaker. She enjoyed camping, golfing and playing cards. She was a very active member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church where she helped with the Luther League Youth Group, served in the church's Ladies Aide and quilting group.

She is survived by her husband; daughter, Betty (Tom) Kohrt, Menominee; two sons, Dale (Jeanne) Belvidere, IL, and Bruce, Wallace; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Eunice Simon, Wallace; and brother, Robert Hanson, Crivitz.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers.

Family and friends called Oct. 11 at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson. Funeral was held Oct. 12 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, the Rev. Dave Christenson officiated.

Burial was in Mellen Township Cemetery.

 
Lori Ann Olsen PDF Print E-mail

Lori Ann Olsen, 44, Menominee, died Oct. 3, 2009, at St. Vincent's Hospital in Green Bay.

She was born to the late Douglas and Elaine (Barley) Olsen Dec. 16, 1964, in Menominee.

Lori resided in Menominee most of her life. She received a Graduate Equivalency Diploma from Menominee High School in 1986. She graduated as an RN from Bay de Noc College in 1994 and worked at Bay Area Medical Center for the past 12 years. She also served in the United States Navy Reserves. Lori enjoyed horses and rode thoroughbred race horses for several years in Ohio and Kentucky. She also enjoyed shopping with her son, salon visits with her daughter, summers with her children and drinking Mt. Dew.

Lori is survived by two children, Andrea Olsen and Jared Huskey, Menominee; two brothers, James and Michael Olsen, Menominee; one sister, Christine (Paul) Allswede, Bloomington, IN; nieces and nephews; aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Laken Dalton.

Visitation was held at Lemieux-Thielen Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass was held at Resurrection Parish Oct. 9 with Rev. Robb Jurkovich officiating.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Menominee. A memorial fund has been established.

 
Richard C. Johnson, Sr. PDF Print E-mail

Richard C. Johnson, Sr., 69, Menominee, died Oct. 8, 2009, at his home.

He was born March 25, 1940, in Marinette, to Nelson C. and Arlene (Setunsky) Johnson, Sr.

He resided in the twin cities all of his life and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1958. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and Stevens Point. In his earlier years, he worked for the Ed Johnson Construction  Company and Marinette County Sheriff's Department. He retired after 25 years service as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.

He served as a member of the Marinette County Board of Supervisors and as a Court Officer for District 95A, Menominee District Court. He was also a commissioner for the Twin County Airport Commission and member of the Henes Park Board. He was an antique car collector and enthusiast.

He married Susan Knudtson Nov. 22, 1989.

He is survived by his wife; four children, Kym (Pudg) Soderburg, Marinette, Richard Carl Johnson, Jr., TN, Jason (Lisa) Johnson, Chicago, and Nick Johnson (friend Ashley Noasconi), Menominee, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Steve (Noi) Knudtson; sister-in-law, Sarah (David) Legg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Glenn, Thomas, Nelson, Jr. and Peter Johnson; two sisters, Sandra Langlois and Sally O'Leary, and a nephew, Stephen Johnson.

Friends called at Hansen Onion Martell Funeral Home, Marinette, Oct. 12 and at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Marinette, Oct. 13, where funeral services were held. The Rev. James Wendt officiated.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Menominee.

A memorial fund has been established in Richard's name.

Tanya Guard, 44 Shawano, died unexpectedly Oct. 8, 2009.

She was born in Oakwood (Nadeau Township) and attended Carney-Nadeau High School.

She is survived by her father, Robert Guard, Hermansville; mother, Sharon Adams, Titusville, FL; brother, Jack, Foster City, MI, nieces and nephews.

Melvin A. Godwin, 81, retired owner of Melvin's Electric for 17 years, died Sept. 29, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Juanita; daughters, Diana Praeger, Wichita, Linda Staats, Rose Hill, Terry (Jeff) Hamer, Wichita; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Arlene Burnett, Derby, Don Godwin, Mulvane, and Marie LaDuron, Wallace, MI.

Funeral was held Oct. 1 at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, Derby, KS.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 5375 W. 7th St., Topeka, KS 66606.

Richard A. Christophersen, Sr. PDF Print E-mail

Richard (Dick) A. Christophersen, Sr., 76, a life long resident of Menominee, died Oct. 9, 2009, at Rennes Health Center East, Peshtigo, after a battle with cancer.

Dick was born May 25, 1933, in Menominee, to the late Albert and Matilda (Photenhauer) Christophersen.

He attended Menominee High School. On Nov. 29, 1952, he married Mary Ann Penl, in Bethel Lutheran Church in Menominee. He worked most of his adult life at Van Domelen Electric Motor Works, Inc. and in 1973 he became the owner until his retirement in 1996. He was devoted to his family. He enjoyed deer hunting and all animals and the wilderness. He enjoyed many hunting trips to Colorado and spending time at his camp, and all types of woodworking. He was a member of Club 19 (Menominee High School football teams of 1950-54).

He is survived by his wife; one son, Richard (Myra) Christophersen, Jr., Menominee; one daughter, Lynn (James) Steinbrecher, Suamico, WI, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Stuart, Lake Havasu City, AZ, two nephews and one niece, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, William Penl; and brother-in-law, Richard Stuart.
Family and friends called Oct. 13 at the Anderson Kell Funeral Home, Menominee. A Christian Prayer service was held in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Fr. Ronald Skufca officiated.

Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

 
Evelyn Behnke PDF Print E-mail

Evelyn Behnke, 88, Peshtigo, died Oct. 7, 2009, at Rennes Health Center West.

Born May 18, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and LuLu (Ihde) Anderson.

On May 23, 1942, she married Raymond W. Behnke Sr., at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Peshtigo. He preceded her in death Nov. 5, 2001. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her favorite pastime was working puzzles.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Raymond Jr. (Judy), Marinette, Richard (Darlene), Peshtigo, LuAnne (Daniel) Staudenmaier, Marinette, Randy (Carole), Marinette, Rex (Cheryl), Peshtigo, Ron (Bette), Menominee and Raeleen (Larry) Steiner, Porterfield; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Besides her parents and husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.

Visitation and funeral were held, Oct. 9, at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home. The Rev. John Shallow officiated.

Burial was in Glenwood Memorial Gardens.
